Beginner English

This class is for true beginners who want to learn in a relaxed and friendly way. We practise everyday situations such as introductions, hobbies, and shopping.

Lesson Structure

Every lesson is carefully planned so that you learn quickly and enjoyably.

1. Vocabulary

We start the lesson by learning 16 new words. You can download an audio recording of the vocabulary before class, so you can practice pronunciation.

2. Story

Listening is an important part of learning English, and the best way to improve your listening skills is to listen to a short story. I purposefully don't use any Japanese translations when I tell the story in class, but images, gestures, and lots of repetition will make everything clear.

3. Role-plays

Next, we will practice speaking using role-plays. There are usually two easy role-plays followed by one longer one. We spend most of the lesson doing role-plays because this is the fastest way to improve your speaking skills.

4. Conversation

In the last 5 or 10 minutes we have a conversation based on the vocabulary and role-plays we practiced earlier. This builds confidence.
